AFTER AMY EFAW PDF

Sometimes I just need a little reminder. The paintbrush is a razor and the canvas is her wrist. Because hurting herself would be so much easier. The kind of lonely that sears, that burrows its way deep inside a heart and throbs. Like a gnawing hunger.

Tuesday After by Amy Efaw Devon Davenport is 15 years old, she is a superstar athlete on her soccer team, straight-A student, and all around perfect teen. She has set some very strict rules and regulations that she follows in order to stick to her goals. But all that changes one morning when a baby is found in a dumpster behind her apartment building. Her mother, flirting with the officers, believes that maybe her daughter can help since she stayed home from school because she was feeling sick.

The story mostly revolves around Devon - pre-baby and post-baby, or rather "IT" as she calls the infant. She now finds herself in a juvenile detention center facing some rather severe charges.

She swears that she did not know she was pregnant. I entered into reading this book with some trepidation. I knew it would be an emotional rollercoaster. I was really surprised that I would feel this way about her, but in the end I did. What I truly enjoyed about this story is that Ms.

They are what they are. My only complaint, and the reason why I did not give it 5 stars was because of the ending. It just felt too abrupt for me. I would have liked a little more. Posted by Nely.

After Discussion Guide

Summary from the publisher : An infant left in the trash to die. A teenage mother who never knew she was pregnant. Before That Morning, these were the words most often used to describe straight-A student and star soccer player Devon Davenport: responsible, hardworking, mature. But all that changes when the police find Devon home sick from school as they investigate the case of an abandoned baby. Soon the connection is made—Devon has just given birth; the baby in the trash is hers. And yet gifted author Amy Efaw does the impossible— she turns Devon into an empathetic character, a girl who was in such deep denial that she refused to believe she was pregnant.

Sunday, October 25, After by Amy Efaw Update February 10, After contacting the author Amy Efaw in late via facebook and discussing the error in her book, After, regarding pregnancy, Ms. Efaw assured me that a correction would be made to the paperback edition. I had provided her with a link to a website which details fetal development and information on the fertilization process. Sadly, the paperback edition which my library received does not contain a correction. I am disappointed that this misinformation was not corrected because many teens will incorrectly believe that at 6 weeks of pregnancy a "fertilized egg" will not yet have implanted.

Shelves: i-think-you-should-read-this Props to Amy Efaw. This author made me root for a girl who dumped her baby in a trash bag and feel empathy toward her. Before reading this, I would have said "send her to jail, try her as an adult, who cares about her! This author did her job. She made me feel exactly what she wanted me to. Enter Devon: above-average, smart, atelethic, goal-oriented 15 year old girl.
